During the thermal regeneration process in their fluidized bed boiler the flue gasses need to be cooled down very quickly or else toxic dioxins will be generated. This cooling is done in a cooling tower by the use of water. Due to ash in the flue gasses the cooling tower will get fouled with slag build up.
